The challenge
Setting aside the judgment was the first step. The records still existed. Court databases and background-check companies could still surface the 1998 case. For an old conviction, the lingering record is usually the real problem, not the conviction itself.
ARS § 13-911 solves that. Sealing closes the records of the arrest, the conviction, and the sentence. Once sealed, the case stops appearing and the client can lawfully say in most situations that it never happened. That is the clean break a Phoenix Sealing Records Suspended License order delivers.
What we did
Future First filed the petition to seal under ARS § 13-911 in Phoenix Municipal Court. We confirmed the waiting period had run, confirmed the sentence was complete, gave the prosecutor notice, and addressed each finding the court had to make before sealing.
The court granted the petition and ordered all records relating to the arrest, conviction, and sentence sealed, with copies sent to the Department of Public Safety and the prosecutor. The Phoenix Sealing Records Suspended License order came through 58 days after filing.
Sealing pairs with the set aside to finish the job. A Phoenix Sealing Records Suspended License petition closes the file so the old case stops surfacing for good.
What our clients say
Read verified reviews from people we have helped clear their records:
If you have an old conviction in Arizona
Sealing under ARS § 13-911 reaches old misdemeanors once the waiting period passes and the sentence is complete. A case from the 1990s can be sealed the same as a recent one.
Sealing works best alongside a set aside. The set aside vacates the judgment; the seal closes the records so they stop appearing on background checks. Together they give the cleanest result Arizona law allows.
The court has to make specific findings before it seals a record. A complete petition that documents the disposition and full compliance gives the judge what the statute requires.
