Only you can request your own DPS record. It requires your fingerprints, so by law it has to come directly from you. A law firm cannot submit it for you, even if you send us your fingerprints.
Try every version of your name
A record is only as findable as the name it was filed under. An empty first search does not mean you are clear. Search again with every variation you can think of.
- ✓ Your full legal name, then again with and without a middle name or initial.
- ✓ Maiden names and any former or married names.
- ✓ Nicknames and shortened names (Mike for Michael, Liz for Elizabeth).
- ✓ Hyphenated or two-part last names, searched together and separately.
- ✓ Suffixes like Jr., Sr., II, or III, with and without.
- ✓ Common misspellings of your first and last name.
- ✓ The name you used at the time of the arrest, if you have legally changed it since.
Always include your date of birth. When you find a case, write down the case number, the court name, and your next court date. The more you bring, the faster we can tell you what it will take to clear it.
