The challenge
The client faced three domestic-violence-designated Class 1 misdemeanor charges from a single 2025 incident in Chandler Municipal Court. A domestic violence designation drives the worst consequences a misdemeanor can carry, from a firearm prohibition to a record that screens out of jobs, housing, and professional licensing.
Future First negotiated entry into a diversion program. The client completed the program conditions, and the court dismissed all three charges. No conviction entered. But a dismissal does not erase the record. The arrests and the dismissed charges stayed in court databases and on commercial background reports, where a domestic violence entry, even a dismissed one, follows a person for years.
What we did
Future First handled both stages of this case. First, the firm secured a diversion resolution that ended in dismissal of all three charges with no conviction. Then the firm filed petitions to seal under ARS § 13-911 in the Chandler Municipal Court. The Chandler Sealing Records Domestic Violence petitions documented the dismissals, the completed diversion, and the client’s eligibility, and asked the court to seal all records of the arrests and the charges.
The court granted the petitions and sealed all three cases on the same order. After sealing, the dismissed domestic violence charges no longer appear on standard background checks, and the client can lawfully state that the arrests did not occur.
This is the full Chandler Sealing Records Domestic Violence path: a dismissal first, then a seal that closes the record to the public for good.

If you have a dismissed domestic violence case in Arizona
Arizona’s record sealing law, ARS § 13-911, lets people seal arrest and charge records that ended in dismissal. A domestic violence case that was dismissed after diversion is a strong sealing candidate because no conviction ever entered.
When one incident produces several charges, each one can be sealed, and the petitions can be filed together and decided on the same order, as happened here. The waiting period for dismissed misdemeanors is short, so the process can move quickly once eligibility is met.
A dismissed domestic violence charge should not follow you on a background check. Sealing removes it from public view and lets you move forward.
