The challenge
A set aside vacates the judgment of guilt, but the records still exist. The old felony case can still surface on background checks run by employers, landlords, and licensing boards. For a decades-old case, the record is often the last thing standing between the client and a clean slate.
ARS § 13-911 closes that gap. Sealing the records means the arrest, the conviction, and the sentence are sealed from public view. In most situations the client can lawfully say the case never happened. That is the value of a Maricopa Sealing Records Felony order.
What we did
Future First filed the petition to seal under ARS § 13-911 in Maricopa County Superior Court. We confirmed the waiting period had run, that the sentence and all monetary obligations were complete, and that the client had no disqualifying later convictions. We gave the prosecutor notice and addressed each finding the court had to make.
The court granted the petition and ordered all records relating to the arrest, conviction, and sentence sealed, with copies sent to the Department of Public Safety and the prosecutor. The Maricopa Sealing Records Felony order came through 24 days after filing.
Paired with the set aside and firearm rights restoration on the same case, the seal completed the cleanup. A Maricopa Sealing Records Felony petition closes the file for good when every condition is documented and presented to the court.
What our clients say
Read verified reviews from people we have helped clear their records:
If you have an old felony in Arizona
Sealing under ARS § 13-911 reaches felony convictions once the waiting period passes and the sentence is complete. The waiting period runs from completion of the sentence, and it is longer for felonies than for misdemeanors. Eligibility depends on the offense.
Sealing works best alongside a set aside. The set aside vacates the judgment; the seal closes the records so they stop appearing on background checks. Together they give the cleanest result Arizona law allows for an old felony.
The court has to make specific findings before it seals a felony record. A complete petition that documents the disposition, the waiting period, and full compliance gives the judge what the statute requires.
